Session Summary - February 2016

The Treasurer’s report.

-    Giving continues to be down compared with this time last year.

-    The treasurer will put an income summary in the newsletter each month to show how we are progressing.

        -     Expenses have not exceeded budget estimates at this time.

Gerai Kocher presented a report on the February 20th Presbytery meeting.

- At that meeting Rev. Worth was accepted into the Presbytery of East Tennessee.

The Session discussed the request to start a Junior Church program.

- After a lengthy discussion it was decided that the limited number of children and their ages make a Junior Church program impractical at this time.

Lizz Savard reported that the Elder Nominating has nominations for Elders for the classes of 2017 and 2018. 

- A congregational meeting has been scheduled for March 6th to elect Elders.

Rev. Worth’s installation ceremony has been scheduled for March 13th at 4:00pm.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Committee Reports:

Buildings and Grounds-

- The kitchen remodeling has been completed.

- The insurance company did a walk through of the church and found no problems.

- Ron discussed the possibility of adding insulation to the attic of the McMillan Building and possible updates to the narthex kitchen.


- There will be no potluck suppers in February or March due to the kitchen renovation and the Easter season.

- Wednesday night suppers and bible study will resume after Easter.


- A summary of current mission projects was presented.  See our website for details.

- Education- Tentative planning for this year’s VBS has begun.  The theme will be Egypt.  The date has not been determined.  Watch for details as they develop.

Pastor’s Report:

- Rev. Worth has begun to visit some of our home bound members.

- She will also be reaching out to those who have recently stopped coming to New Hope.

- Rev. Worth presented several suggestions for possible future projects.

- A Sunrise Service will be held on Easter Sunday.
