Summary of the Session Meetings – September 2018

  • Treasurer Troy Ivey gave a report on the current fiscal condition of the church.
    • Contributions continue to fall behind last year’s pace by approximately 22%.
  • Troy presented the second edition of the 2019 budget proposal.
    • There was a lengthy discussion with an eye on making cuts to help balance the budget.
    • Previous Sessions have already taken advantage of all possible cuts in an attempt to maintain a balanced budget.
    • The Session decided that, with the exception of a few minor changes, we will adopt the deficit budget at the December Session meeting.
  • Troy will present a budget update to the congregation at the November potluck supper.
  • The Session approved a Bible study based on “Advent in Narnia Reflections on the Season” by Heidi Havercamp.
  • The Session has signed an amendment to the purchase agreement with Drury that will allow Drury to purchase the property at 7608 Shallowford Road.
    • The property will be turned over to New Hope when we close on the sale of our church property to Drury.
The next Session meeting will be December 16th.
