From The Session

The Session held it’s July meeting via Zoom online on Saturday July 25.
  • Troy Ivey was not able to attend as he was out celebrating his birthday. Happy Birthday Troy!
  • Troy did submit a written Treasurer’s Report.  There was little change from last month although offerings were down almost 9% from a year ago.  Our investments were up slightly.
  • The church has not done a financial audit in several years.  The Session will reach out to members of the congregation for people to work on this.
  • Lizz Savard gave a report on the budget for the new building project.  All payments are current and up to date.
  • The Session elected Rosie Sanislo as commissioner to the Presbytery meeting on August 15th.  This will be a Zoom meeting.
  • Lizz Savard suggested that we could have fundraisers to help landscape the new church grounds and purchase stained glass windows for the narthex of the new building.  The Session would like to have someone from the congratulation head this up.
  • The Session authorized money to purchase a banner to be placed at the new church property announcing our coming soon to that location.
  • It was decided that, because of logistic problems, our online Vacation Bible School program will be run over Fall Break.  This will give our kids a chance to hear God’s word without the background chaos of the current, unique school environment.
  • The 12 Step and related programs continue to meet at the church.  They are following the guidelines and are cleaning and disinfecting after each meeting.
  • There was a lengthy discussion on the status of the building project. To date, almost all of the permits required have been approved by the city.  The plans for the new building have been submitted to contractors and construction bids are expected by the beginning of August.  Things are moving along rapidly now and we should see physical progress at the new site in the near future.
  • The Session discussed the ground breaking ceremony.  It was felt that we would like to involve as many members of the congregation as possible.  We would like to combine this with an outside social gathering at the new church.
  • It was with great sadness that we learned about the passing of Suzanne Buck.  She was an important member of our church family and she will be missed, especially by our children.
  • The next Session meeting will be August 16th at 1:00 PM.
