Summary of the Session Meetings

July 16, 2017 and August 20, 2017

  • Again, Troy Ivey reported that contributions are running behind last year’s level.
    • Troy asked Session members to began thinking about the budget planning process for 2018.
    • This process will get underway in September.
    • He indicated that, if things continue as they currently are, the Session will have three options moving forward: 1) increase contributions from members, 2) cut expenses, or 3) plan on using funds from investments.
  •  Rev. Worth is continuing to serve communion at the Taizé service at Morning Pointe.
  • The photo directory is almost complete.
  • The Vacation Bible School was a success.
    • A big thank you to all who participated.
    • Also, thank you to Einstein Bagels for their generous donation of bagels.
  • Church technology (phone, computers and copier) is getting old and needs to be replaced.
    • This will be addressed during the budget process.
  • Rev. Worth requested that we purchase a few copies of the new Presbyterian Hymnal  (Glory to God Hymnal).
  • At the August meeting,  Lizz Savard led a session on strategic planning.
    • This process will continue for the foreseeable future and will eventually involve the entire congregation.
  • The fellowship committee reported that an Ice Cream social will be held after church on August 27th.
  • Wednesday night suppers and bible studies will resume on September 6th.
  • Rev. Worth reported that there is a possibility of hosting a missionary from the Ukrane at the Wednesday night supper on September 27th.
  • Students who attended the retreat at Montreat this summer will lead worship on September 17th.
  • Rev. Worth would like increase the percentage of our budget that goes to mission projects.

 The next Session meeting will be September 17th.
