Session Hiighlights - December Meeting
The December meeting of the Session was held on December 6th. The following are the highlights from that meeting.
- Anthony James Ivey was baptized by Rev. Don Kaller during the worship service on November 29, 2015.
- The Treasurer’s Reported that the budget committee continues to work on the 2016 budget.
- The Session discussed and approved the terms of call for Rev. Candace Worth.
- The Session continues to discuss the size of the Session and the length of terms for serving Elders.
- A Session of 7 Elders with rotating 3 year terms would be appropriate for a church of our size.
- Lizz Savard is putting together an Elder Nominating Committee to nominate Elders for the classes of 2017 and 2018.
- Rosie Sanislo was elected as the non-serving Elder on the nominating committee.
- Linda Brandon and Gerai Kocher reported on plans for Janet Sump’s celebration.
- Jon Geerlings reported on the Presbytery meeting held on November 10, 2015.
- The Session authorized a congregational meeting on December 20, 2015 for the purposes of approving Rev. Candace Worth as New Hope’s next pastor and to elect the Elder Nominating Committee.
- The Session authorized the distribution of staff Christmas gifts.
- The Buildings & Grounds indicated that the final lawn cleanup would begin shortly and work on the kitchen project would begin in January.
- The Worship Committee reported that the Taizé services continue to go well.
- The second Taizé service this month will be canceled.
- Taizé services will now be held once a month on the first Sunday of the month at Morning Pointe.
- We will continue to serve communion at the Taizé service.
- Carol Howard Merritt will be the pastor for the Christmas Eve service.
- Don Kaller will be the pastor for the December 27th service.
- Christine Vetne will be the substitute organist while Larisa is on vacation.
- Rev. Jump announced that his last Sunday would be January 17, 2016.
The next Session Meeting will be January 10, 2016.
