Summary of the August 16th Session meeting.
  • Rosie Sanislo gave a report on the August 15th Presbytery meeting.  This was a virtual meeting and only essential Presbytery business was transacted. The worship service was  pre-recorded. 5 ministers were examined and welcomed into the Presbytery.  The Coordinating Committee recognized New Hope’s gifts the Presbytery and the other Presbytery missions contributed to.
  • It is time for the Session to schedule Congregational meetings to elect elders for the Class of 2023.  Last year the congregation elected this year’s nominating committee consisting of Ronnie Young (chairman), Teena Bledsoe, Hank Saeger, and Marilyn Suber.  The committee will nominate candidates for the Class of 2023.  Because we are not conducting in-person worship services, we will need to be creative to conduct a congregational vote to elect the elders.  The Session will send a form to all members asking for other nominations.  If no further nominations are forthcoming.  The Session will send a voting form via email and regular mail.  Please vote and return your form.  We need a quorum of members to submit votes.  That is at least 15.  The elders receiving the majority of the votes will be elected.
  • Lizz Savard volunteered to be the liaison between the Local Disaster Coordinator and Presbyterian Disaster Relief for tornado relief.
  • For years Renaissance Presbyterian Church has served the needs of the minority community that surrounds the church.  Renaissance is asking other Presbyterian churches in our area to help support this mission.  This help could be in the form of a monetary contribution or volunteering of time.  If you are interested in helping please contact Pastor Candace.
  • The Session continues to look for a replacement for treasurer Troy Ivey.  He will be stepping down at the end of the year.  If anyone is interested or has a suggestion please let a Session member know.
  • The Session has decided to continue the PW Circle Bible studies in a virtual format.  We would also like to open these studies up to our male members. We are looking for ways to included members who do not have access to the Zoom service.  Watch for more information.
  • All of the permits for our new building have been issued and the contractor, Tyson Associates, has been chosen.  A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for August 30th at 4:00PM. This is an exciting time for our congregation and we are hoping that everyone can attend.
