Summary of the Session Meetings
September 17, 2017

  • Again, Troy Ivey reported that contributions are running behind last year’s level.
  • The Sack Pack mission will be ending at the end of the school year.
    • Among other things, there will be a lack of funds to continue the mission.
    • The Session voted to move any left over money to the mission fund.
  • The Session has asked Jon Geerlings to be putting together an Elder Nominating Committee.
    • The committee will be looking for 2 candidates for the class of 2020.
  • The Session discussed the terms of service for the treasurer and the secretary/clerk of session.
    • The current terms are 4 years.
    • The shorter terms have been requested by the current treasurer and clerk.
    • The clerk will check the bylaws to see if the terms are defined there and report back at the next Session meeting.
  • Lizz Savard continued the strategic planning process.
    • The Session is beginning to formulate goals in the following areas; financial, mission and membership.
  • · The Buildings and Grounds committee reported on the completion of two projects; the removal of dead trees and the addition of WiFi access in the McMillan Building.
    • The electrician will be coming in to address the issues with lighting around the outside of the building.
  • · The Fellowship Committee reported on the positive response to the Ice Cream Social.
    • The potluck dinner on September 24 will be a vegetarian meal.
    • The PW women helped serve lunch at Hope House.
  • The Outreach Committee reminded the session that it is time to begin the shoebox project for Operation Christmas Child.
  • Pastor Worth reported that she will be out of the area for the last two weeks of September for professional development.
    • Rev. Worth reported that the Wednesday night brown bag dinner and Bible study is going well.
      • Additional participants would definitely be welcomed.

The next Session meeting will be October 22nd.
