East Brainerd Elementary School / Snack Packs

East Brainerd Elementary School / Snack Packs

New Hope partners with two churches in our community to provide Sack Packs for 50 at-risk children at East Brainerd Elementary.  These packs provide nutrition over the weekend for children who have been identified as at risk for hunger.  Together, we provide packs every week of the school year.

Funding for this program comes through direct giving and our 2-Cents-A-Meal program.  By shopping at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, your donations are stretched further because we are able to buy the items at a much lower cost than retail.  Each pack which includes multiple protein sources and milk costs only about $2.00.  So thank you for your generosity!  We organize a 2-Cents-A-Meal collection about 3 times a year, but any time is a great time to  donate to help those in need.  The next collection will be Sunday, November 6th.

Our children; Chase, Jade, Sara, Matthew, Joseph, Sarabeth, Trent, and Stephen with the help of Alex eagerly packed Snack Packs for the children attending East Brainerd Elementary School last month during our worship service. In less than 20 minutes they packed  100 bags.  Once rolling, they are a machine.

The awesome trio of Andy, Rosie & Gerai packed 240 sack packs in March!

We need more individuals to volunteer.  If you would like to join our Group, we  are always looking for people to help fill packs on the third Tuesday of the month.  We begin at 9:00am and finish before noon.

If you would like more information regarding what we do, please contact Gerai Kocher or Rosie Sanislo.

These children may know some fellow students who receive these in their book bags on Friday afternoons. They cannot imagine a weekend without extra food.  Though the snack packs only cost us $2.00 a piece, the experience for our children is priceless.  Thanks, kids.
