Summary of the Session Meetings – September 2018

  • Treasurer Troy Ivey gave a report on the current fiscal condition of the church.
    • Contributions continue to fall behind last year’s pace by approximately 22%.
  • Troy handed out a preliminary budget proposal for 2019.
    • With the exception of a couple of items such as the storm water fee and copier maintenance, the budget remains flat.
    • The Session will devote the November 18th meeting to budgeting.
  • Rosie Sanislo was elected as our commissioner to the Presbytery meeting at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church on November 13th.
  • Marilyn Suber reported that she has put together an Elder Nominating Committee of herself, Jean Thomas, Barbara Krupp, and Hank Saeger.
    • The Session has scheduled Congregational Meetings for November 4th to elect the Nominating Committee and November 11th the elect the elders for the class of 2021.
  • The Christmas giving project was discussed.
    • November 27th is Giving Tuesday.
    • Rev. Worth will work on recommendations for causes we can contribute to.
    • Rev. Worth presented updates to church policies.
    • After a discussion, Rev Worth will incorporate suggestions and present the final drafts to the Session for approval at the November 18th meeting.
  • The Property Committee discussed the results of our request to the City Council to remove the ordinance language concerning the traffic light.
    • That request has been withdrawn at this time.
    • The Session felt that is was very important to get input from the congregation regarding our future course.
    • The Session will hold an informational meeting with the congregation after the Potluck dinner on Sunday, October 28th.
      • Please plan to attend as your input is vital to the future of our church.
  • It was decided to schedule a Session meeting on November 4th to discussion the results of the informational meeting.
 The next Session meeting will be November 4th.
