Session Highlights - October Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Session was held on October 18th.

_    One building use request was approved by the Clerk since the last Session meeting.

A request has been received from a Seventh Day Adventist congregation to rent our facilities.  The Session authorized the clerk and the chairman of the Buildings and Grounds committee to meet with representatives of the Seventh Day Adventist Board for fact finding discussion and bring that information back to the Session for further discussion.

_ The Treasurer reported that currently finances are in good shape although giving is down from this time last year.  He indicated that the  Session needs to begin the budgeting process for 2016.

_ Lizz Savard will begin to put together an Elder Nominating Committee to nominate Elders for the classes of 2017 and 2018.

_ The Session voted to accept the generous gift of a remodel for the McMillan Building Kitchen.  The project will begin after the first of the year.

_ The Session has designated Sunday, October 25th as Pastor Appreciation Day.  We will honor Rev. Jump at the Potluck dinner following the worship service.

_ PNC report.

The committee reported that it has two additional in-person interviews scheduled with candidates in November.  Hopefully, this will lead to a call for the new pastor for New Hope.

_ The Buildings & Grounds committee submitted a preliminary list of projects that will need to be addressed in 2016.

_ The Worship Committee reported that the Taizé services continue to go well.

Communion was served to approximately 25 people at Morning Pointe following the service  on October 4th.

Service on the 1st Sunday of the month is held at Morning Pointe. Service on the 3rd Sunday at New Hope.

Tricia Dillion Thomas will be in the pulpit on November 22nd,  Henry Paris will be here on November 29th..

_ The Education committee reported that is still looking for a permanent nursery attendant.

Planning for the 2016 Vacation Bible School will begin soon.

_ The Mission committee has had to reschedule their meeting.

_ The Fellowship committee reported that there will be Wednesday night dinners on November 4, 11, 18.

There will be no Wednesday night dinners after the 18th through, at least, the end of December.

There will be no potluck dinners in November or December.

New Hope will host its traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day.

 

The next Session Meeting will be November15h.
