Church Women United
Church Women United (CWU) is a racially, culturally, and theologically inclusive Christian women’s movement that celebrates unity in diversity and works for a world of peace and justice. It was founded in 1941 and now represents 25 million Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian Women. They are impassioned by the Holy Spirit to act on behalf of women and children throughout the world.
All women of Chattanooga and the surrounding area are welcome to visit and join; meetings are held the first Friday of the month from February through June and from August through December. Mary McMillan has been an active member and officer in CWU for many years and New Hope has occasionally hosted monthly meetings. The joy of participating in CWU is the opportunity of working, praying and celebrating with Christian women of many races and denominations. We enrich and inspire each other with our variety of experiences and approaches to spreading the good news of God’s love for all his children.
The women of New Hope are invited and encouraged to participate in the monthly meetings of Church Women United and to enjoy the fellowship of this diverse group of women in the Chattanooga area. In CWU, we are not concerned about our differences as we are fervent about and focused on God’s love for us and our ability and willingness to share it within our community, nation and world.
